Summer Stars, the public library national summer reading programme for children, returns from the 13th of June until the end of August. All children throughout the country are invited to join the adventure and to enjoy the fun and pleasure of reading and writing over the summer.
Children can come in to Blanchardstown Library and get a special Summer Stars reading card to start them on their journey. Each card has spaces for them to write down the books that they read, and when they return a completed card at the end of the summer they will be put into a draw for prizes as an incentive to keep reading. In addition there will be an awards ceremony for children in September where they will receive a certificate and a medal for taking part in this challenge. It is a great way for children to keep up their reading and writing skills during the summer holidays! In addition we will have a number of related events on throughout the summer in the library that children can take part in- just keep an eye on Fingal Libraries’ Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Eventbrite for details.
