Dear Parents/Guardians,
What an amazing half-term we have had here in Powerstown ETNS. The staff are all delighted to be back in the building, with sound of children’s voices in the corridors and children’s work on display on the corridors! The hustle and bustle of school life brings about a sense of “new” normality for us all.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our school community, once again for strongly supporting our Covid Plan. You have helped ensure our school was a safe, fun place for your child to learn, for your child to socialise and for your child to explore the “new” normal since we re-opened!
I have been overwhelmed with the amazing work going on in our classrooms. This week alone Junior Infants wrote their own book; Holly & Hawthorn Classes presented their projects on habitats to me; Senior Infants have done amazing work on hibernation and Autumn; 1st class learnt all about hedgehogs and did fabulous nature hunt; 2nd class created symmetrical pumpkins and learnt how to play tennis; 3rd class presented amazing projects on Space and the Solar System; 4th class have completed spectacular projects about “Schools From the Past”; 5th class have been learning all about Mesopotamia; 6th class competed in their very first debate competition. And that is just this week’s work!
Well done to all the boys and girls and our amazing staff! You put the “POWER” in Powerstown!
Stay Safe this Mid-Term
We have all worked so hard since school re-opened to keep our pupils, staff and school community safe. As we close for mid-term we are all acutely aware of the escalating numbers of Covid 19 and its transmission in our community. We all need to strictly follow the Level 5 restrictions that have been implemented and work together to reduce the spread of this virus.
We are asking our school community to be extra vigilant and to take necessary precautions during the mid-term break:
- Please follow public health advice
- Please do not organise visits to other households
- Please do not organise sleep-overs or play dates with other households
- Please do not to travel beyond a 5km radius from home
- Adults please wear face coverings, as required
- Please continue to encourage good hand hygiene and respiratory health among all members of the household
We need to have everyone on board!
These public health guidelines are there for the protection of all of us.
Yes, they are difficult and challenging. But by everyone following these guidelines we will be doing our best to keep our families and our school community safe.
I hope you all have a safe and enjoyable mid-term break and enjoy the “spooky” season with your households
Stay safe
Helena & all at PETNS
