As part of our heritage week celebrations we were really privileged and lucky to secure a visit from Leon Diop one of the authors of the book ‘Black and Irish: Legends, Trailblazers and Everyday Heroes’ which recently won the International Education Services Teen and Young Adult Book of the year award. The book shares the amazing and interesting stories, memories and experiences of some legends from the Black and mixed race community in Ireland.
Students from 3rd to 6th class prepared questions to ask him which gave us all such a great insight into what it takes to write a book and into the inspirations behind its writing. A big thanks must go to Leon for taking the time away from his busy schedule to visit us.
