Rugby World Cup fever is high around Powerstown ETNS! We had an amazing engagement with collecting the Aldi Rugby stickers (we have submitted completed posters both last term and already this term!) so thank you to everyone who brought in stickers. Building on the workshops with Leinster Rugby during Active Schools Week in June, 6th Class have been taking part in additional training sessions with Leinster Rugby this term and had a great time at a recent rugby blitz, not to mention everyone taking part in European Week of Sport last week. So baring all this in mind we have decided to watch the opening and closing moments of the Ireland -v- Russia match this morning in school.

Children may spend a little time today preparing – locating Ireland/Russia/Japan on maps and globes and well as researching flags and team colours, all while listening to the national anthems of Ireland and Russia. Children are invited to wear Irish or Russian colours and just before kick-off the school will assemble in the Hall to watch the build up and anthems and then watch the first ten minutes of so of the match! If classes are interested they can then watch the closing few moments of the game after yard time.

We are all very excited and are looking forward to a few minutes of fun to support the Irish (or Russian!) team in the World Cup 2019.
