heritage weekWe are super excited about our 2017 Heritage Week @ PETNS. It promises to be an action packed week with lots of activities for pupils and plenty of opportunities for PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT! We hope you may be able to come into school and assist us with our activities. 

Monday
Mini Museum & Heritage Week Trail (Launched Monday 23rd Jan – Running All Week)

Stop 1: Mini Museum (at the bottom of the blue stairs).
Stop 2: Mystery Object (in the Mini Museum)
There is a ‘Mystery Object’ area in the Mini Museum where there are either artefacts or photos of artefacts on display –  the children have to guess what they might have been used for and how old they are.
 
Stop 3: Historical Maps  (display board upstairs)
Display of Historical Map (replicas)
PARENTS IF YOU HAVE ANY MAPS YOU WOULD LIKE TO SHARE, PLEASE DROP THEM INTO THE OFFICE!
 
Stop 4: ‘Guess the Baby’ (display board upstairs overlooking hall)
Display of baby photos of members of staff
Tuesday
Archaeologist Visit (Tuesday 24th Jan)
Archaeologist Aisling Collins will be hosting workshops for pupils from 2nd – 6th Class
 
Archaeological Dig (Tuesday 24th Jan)
Presentation and mini-dig with Aoife and 1st Class and Birch Class
Dino Day (Tuesday 24th Jan)
Dinosaur themed activities for infant classes.
 
Wednesday
Older Persons Day (Wednesday 25th Jan)
Grandparents or any older people are invited in to classes room for games/interviews (approx. 30mins).
PARENTS, GUARDIANS AND FRIENDS WE NEED YOUR ASSISTANCE TO MAKE OLDER PERSONS DAY A SUCCESS!
 
Thursday
Artefact Sharing Day (Thursday 26th Jan)
Parents and children invited to bring in any historical/cultural artefact for show and tell session in class (30mins approx).
PARENTS & GUARDIANS WE NEED YOUR ASSISTANCE TO MAKE THIS DAY A SUCCESS!
Friday
Assembly (Friday 27th Jan)
