Next Tuesday the 26th September is European Language Day and to celebrate it here in Powerstown we are going to organise some activities that classes can participate in.

On Tuesday classes from Junior Infants to 3rd class will have a short language taster lesson with a member of staff. Some of the languages will include Spanish, Hungarian, Polish, Arabic as well as a number of others. We are so lucky to have staff that are native and fluent speakers in so many languages who are willing to support this day. We would like to express our gratitude to them!

Also on Tuesday, we would like to encourage children to bring in some delicious dishes from their heritage countries so classes can hold a food tasting and allow children to try a variety of foods from different countries. In line with our Healthy Eating Policy, please remember that we are a Nut & Sesame free school. Foods containing allergens (e.g. gluten, dairy, sugar) or meat should be labelled as such.

On Thursday we will hold a table quiz in the hall for 4th-6th class children. Where the teams will be a mixture of class levels.
