Hello Everyone,
Friday the 15th October 2021 marks the 5th annual Raising Awareness of Developmental Language Disorder Awareness Day!
The theme of this year’s campaign is: #ThinkLanguage #Think DLD. The goal is to increase the early identification of DLD and support for students at school. A key part of this message is that: “Spoken language is the lifeblood of the classroom. It underpins all learning, relationships and mental health, from the very beginning to the very end of school. Most students thrive in this rich learning environment, but for some, listening and talking can be overwhelming”.
The Birch Class Team have been busy learning about communication and what we can all do when communication is hard. They have put together some activities for the school to help us all raise awareness and celebrate DLD Day together!
“Think & See DLD”
Powerstown ETNS is taking part in the national “Think & See DLD” campaign and we are asking all staff and children to wear purple/yellow or both on Friday. Parents are also welcome to join in this awareness campaign!
The children will also participate in lots of fun games, lessons and activities on Friday to help raise awareness of DLD.
