From 19th of June, Little Library Bags for Junior Infants starting school in 2024 can be picked up at the lending desk in Blanchardstown Library. These contain one book per child, and a wallet for their library card, which the parents can sign them up for on the day of collection. All that they need is some proof of address and photo id, and it takes two minutes to do.

In addition, the Summer Stars Reading Programme for this year launches today in Fingal.

Summer Stars is the public library national summer reading programme for children that runs from June until the end of August. All children throughout the country are invited to join the adventure and to enjoy the fun and pleasure of reading and writing over the summer. Summer Stars is non-competitive and every child who reads even one book/e-book is regarded as having completed the programme – and it’s all completely free!

Children can collect a reading card from the lending desk in Blanchardstown Library, and receive little incentives, such as bookmarks and pencils, along the way to keep up their great reading throughout the Summer months.

We will have a Summer Stars Awards Ceremony in Blanchardstown Library on Culture Night on September 20th, where children will receive certificates and medals for taking part.

Keep an eye on our Fingal Libraries Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Eventbrite pages, as we advertise our events there all of the time, as well as information for the community as a whole.
