A big congratulations and well done to all those who got elected to represent their classes on the Active School Committee. What a productive first meeting we had together. On this month’s agenda we started with some rough ideas for possible fundraisers for sports equipment in the future. There were some brilliant ones from every class. We also discussed how to use yard time sports equipment safely and properly so that it lasts as long as possible and that everyone on the yard can get as active as possible and enjoy themselves. Our committee was also given the responsibility to make sure that our PE store is in good order and that all equipment is stored in the right place so that teachers can find it easily when they go to do PE.Last on our list was the need to help our school develop our rudimentary movement skills. These look easy but from all the red faces during our star shape spread, I’m not sure they were. Each month our committee will bring a rudimentary movement skill back to their class to teach them and practice during PE warm ups and movement breaks. These skills develop core strength, stability, balance and co-ordination!
