Hi everyone,

I hope you are all keeping safe and well!

All the staff in Powerstown know and understand how challenging life is at the moment. Not returning to the school building this academic year is a difficult reality for us all.

I just want to reassure you that we are aware that everyone’s circumstances are different. We know every child has different strengths and challenges. One thing we are good at is differentiating for everyone!

School is a busy day in the classroom with teachers and assistants on a regular school day. Trying to co-ordinate school work around the kitchen table with siblings,  a full time job and the 101 other tasks required of parents on a daily basis is TOUGH! I am at home with 5 children, 3 children under 3 and a 10 year old and a 12 year old. I know exactly how much of a juggling act it is!

We want your feedback. Let us know what activities are too easy or too challenging, what activities were fun, what activities you would like to see more of or less of and what is working well for you at home.

The work we set in Google Classrooms is a MENU. You can pick and choose what activities you complete, and when you complete them. You do not have to complete every activity.

If you are doing some fun things at home, cooking, baking, washing the car, having a water fight, playing charades, creating origami, having a race we would love to see pictures and videos. Learning experiences exist outside of a text book and away for the screen, and a teacher does not have to assign them

Please keep us informed. We just want to make sure you are safe and well. By seeing you in Google Classroom (on Reading Eggs/Mangahigh) we know everything is (relatively) ok. If we do not see you online for a while, we get worried.

If you decide not to engage online for a while, that is perfectly fine! We would really appreciate if you could let us know you are taking a step back so we won’t be bothering you with emails/messages.

The most important thing is that you stay safe and well, and let us know how we can support you.

Stay safe everyone

Helena
